The World Famous Daytona International Speedway
Daytona International Speedway is a world reknowned racing facility that was founded in Daytona over 60 years ago. The 2.5 mile tri-oval track now has seating capacity for more than 168,000 spectators. This is the home of the Daytona 500 as well as the Rolex 24 hour race and the Coke Zero 400. The Daytona 500 is considered the most important NASCAR race. The drivers log 500 miles over the course of 200 laps.
The International Speedway hosts races of all different types of vehicles, not just stock cars. Sports cars, pick-up trucks, go-karts and motorcycles can all be seen on the track in Daytona. The International Speedway has even hosted a half marathon put on by the city of Daytona Beach.
While vacationing in Daytona Beach the International Speedway is a great place to visit. It is quite exciting for the adults as well as the kids to see such a great part of racing history.
